Genetic disorder is caused by one or more abnormalities in the genome which is caused by mutation in the single or multiple genes or by chromosomal abnormality. The mutation can be occur before the birth of an infant or before embryonic development. It is inherited from the parent who contains the disorder with the faulty gene and this type of disorder is also known as hereditary disease. Genetic disorder can be perfectly cured by the gene therapy. In the gene therapy, gene addition for correcting defective or abnormal gene, gene replacement (abnormal gene replaced by normal gene), or germ line gene therapy is involved in which the permanent transmissible modification of the genome of a gamete, a zygote or an early embryo occurs. That’s how it can be permanently cured.
On the other hand, infectious diseases are caused by pathogens like bacteria, fungi and therefore, can be treated by the substances that can kill these pathogens and stops their growth. Thus, the line of treatment for a genetic disease is very different from the infectious disease.
