Metallic hydrides are hydrogen deficient, i.e., they do not hold the law of constant composition. Metals like Pd, Pt, etc. have the capacity to accommodate a large volume of hydrogen. Therefore, they are used for the storage of hydrogen and serve as a source of energy.
