Among the four major threats to biodiversity, habitat loss and fragmentation is the primary reason for the loss of biodiversity. Habitat is the place where an organism or population naturally occurs. When the natural habitat like forest where the flora and fauna lives, are destroyed then it leads to loss of biodiversity, it is known as habitat loss. And, habitat fragmentation refers to the breakage of habitat into distinct pieces. Habitat loss and fragmentation occurs through the human activities like deforestation etc. for example: Amazon forest, approximately 50- 55% of part is degraded or cleared by the human activities.
