(i) The four means of transport are such as:
- Roadways
- Airways
- Waterways
- Railways

(ii) Settlements are the places where people build their own homes which may be permanent or temporary.

(iii) Activities practiced by the rural are as given below:
- Hunting
- Gathering
- Shifting cultivation
- Agricultures
- Fishing, forestry
- Crafts work
- Transhumance (second migration)

(iv) Two merits of railways are as follows:

- Railways carry people over the long distance very rapidly and cheaply.
- They also carry heavy goods, a raw material in bulk, transported from mines to the industrial areas and from there to the markets or ports.

(v) Communication is the process of conveying messages from one to other.
