Ans: Kisa was asked by Buddha to bring mustard seeds from a house in full of quantity in which death had never came at the door. Kisa Gotami went from door to door, but there was no single house found where no death had happened. She could not get it as death is unavoidable and one who is born is bound to die one day.

Ans: Gautama Buddha was born in a Indian royal family as a prince and Siddhartha Gautama was given him the name. She was feeling helpless yet never knocked at the door. The lights of the city seen by her that flickered and were extinguished. At last, darkness was everywhere. The realisation of her that death was common to all and she became selfish in her grief. Yes, Buddha wanted her to understand that everyone who is born is bound to die one day.
Q4 Why do you think Kisa Gotami understood this only the second time? In what way did the Buddha change her understanding?
Ans: Earlier, only her pain was seen by her.For the second time, she went from door to door, it was understood by her that everyone was dealing with the loss of a beloved one. There was no house in the town where death had not taken any family member of the house. At some point or other, everyone have experienced the death of their loved ones. She was helped by Buddha to understand all this, as he told her to bring mustard seeds from a house full of quantity where death had never knocked at the door. In this way she understood that death is common for all human beings.
Q5 How do you usually understand the idea of ‘selfishness’? Do you agree with Kisa Gotami that she was being ‘selfish in her grief ’?
Ans: Kisa Gotami as being selfish like selfish people are those who think only about themselves, and to some extent because we are humans and it is natural to die. It is really very difficult to accept the death of our loved ones. Similarly it was happened with Kisa Gotami. She did not want him to die because he was his only child. So she finally went to Buddha for the help.
