Sexual reproduction results in the perpetuation and the multiplication of the species. It contributes to the evolution of the species by introducing variations in a population and there are various reasons for this:
1. Genes are contributed by the two parents.
2. DNA replication leads to variation.
3. It leads to an increase in the number of individuals and hence contributes towards evolution.
