IBO (International biology olympiad) is one of the most famous and competitive exams. The students are provided the questions which are pretty complicated and logical. Therefore, the students preparing for the exam should understand the syllabus briefly to reduce the chance of blunders. The IBO examination is held in two parts- theoretical and practical.

Part 1- Theoretical section

• The IBO question paper is considered one of the most rigorous examinations. 

• The question paper comprises both theoretical and practical content. Each section covers 50% of weightage.

• The theoretical section consists of cell biology, molecular biology, plant anatomy and physiology, animal anatomy and physiology, genetics and evolution, ecology, and biosystematics.

• The practical section consists of the topics- of science process skills, physical skills, biological methods, physical and chemical methods, microbiological methods, and statistical methods. The participants are ranked according to their scores, and the best students are served with scholarships, awards, certificates, etc.

The IBO competition consists of practical and theoretical tasks. The host country provides the raw scores of students to the international Jury. After approving of the student’s raw scores by our Country Coordinators, the host country calculates the final ranking based on the T-scores for practical and theoretical tasks (50% + 50%). The final ranking determines the number of gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as certificates of merit (according to the IBO Operational Guidelines.
