The official notification of the NEET UG 2025 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) has been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) . The exam is scheduled to be held on May 4, 2025, and the application form for the exam will be accepted from February 7 to March 7, 2025 .
Introduction of NEET UG Exam
The proposal towards NEET was made in 2012, however, its implementation got delayed due to numerous hurdles. Different issues led the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as well as the Medical Council of India (MCI) to postpone the implementation by a year. Thus, the inaugural NEET exam was held by CBSE on 5th May 2013, which was a historical moment in the history of medical entrances in India.
NEET, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a standardised test for admission to dentistry and medicine at undergraduate level in India. It is meant to replace multiple entrance examinations like the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) in order to establish an efficient and streamlined recruitment system.

Application Process for NEET UG 2025
Registration: Visit the official website of NTA NEET and click on ‘New Registration’. Fill the application form: Fill in the personal, educational, and contact details.
Upload documents: Upload recent passport size photo, signature, thumb impression, and required certificates.
Fee payment: Pay the application fee through online mode .
Take a print out: Keep the print out of the application form safe.

General Category : 1700 rupees
OBC/General-EWS: 1600 rupees
SC/ST/PwD/Transgender: 1000 rupees
NRI: 9500 rupees
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: Candidates must be 17 years of age or above as on December 31, 2025. There is no maximum age limit.
Educational Qualification : Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
Required Marks: Minimum 50% marks in PCB are required for General category, 40% for SC/ST, and 45% for PwD.
Nationality: Indian nationals, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs and foreign nationals can apply.

Exam Mode : Pen and Paper-Based (Offline)
Number of Questions: 180 Multiple Choice Questions
Subjects: Physics (45 questions), Chemistry (45 questions), Biology (90 questions)
Duration: 3 hours
Total Marks: 720
Negative Marking: 1 mark deduction for each wrong answer
Admit Card
Admit card for the exam will be released by NTA on May 1, 2025. Candidates can download it from the official website. Without the admit card, entry to the exam centre will not be allowed.
Result
The results of the exam are expected to be declared in June 2025. Candidates will be able to download their scorecards from the website.
