Philosophy is concerned with the study of questions that center around existence, knowledge, ethics, values, reasoning and reasons, mind, and language. It has intrinsic elements of mysticism, myth, and the unreal. At the same time, it is critical and rational, questioning every belief. Philosophy is argumentative and inconclusive. It is made up of theories and thoughts of scholars and philosophers.

Educationist

The immense knowledge acquired during the course of study, as well as the critical thinking mind that you invariably develop, can be efficiently utilized in the teaching profession. To teach at the school level, a bachelor’s degree in history and a B Ed is sufficient. For college-level education, you should have at least completed your master’s, most preferably also Ph.D. To apply for government colleges, you will have to appear for the NET.

Philosophic Writer

As a writer of philosophy, you can write textbooks for schools and colleges, be a columnist, write philosophy-related books. You can write books on your area of specialization. Philosophy students also make good poets and novelists because of their knowledge of the existence and human characteristics.

Mediation

The skills of communication and analysis of an issue, make philosophy graduates ideal mediators. They possess the quality of resolving, solving, and finding a middle path to disputes and problems.

Logical Thinking Professions

Professions that require logical thinking abilities, like consulting, management, analyst, etc, are good career choices for you. You tend to develop this talent during the course of study.

Consultant / Ethical Advisor

Though not much popular in India, ethical advisors and counselors are in great demand abroad. Modern society with its inherent issues requires such professionals. Consulting and counseling on ethical behavior are deemed necessary. Especially the working with convicts and accused, in juvenile delinquency cases, and in criminally insane cases.

Law

Many philosophy students opt for law as their career choice. This is because the study grants them analytical skills, ethical training, clear thinking, and argumentative skills. Subjects like Logic, Business Ethics, and Health Care Ethics are very helpful in this pursuit.

Religious Studies / Clergy

The study of the philosophy of religion can pave the way for higher education in religious studies. It is not the study of religion, but of the philosophy behind the religions of the world. Such students are not necessarily passionate believers of God but driven by the study of religion, their birth, popularity, following, philosophies, etc. Some students who opt for such studies may actually end up being a part of the clergy
