The applicants should be studying in Grade 9 to 12.
The key objective of this scholarship is to support, recognize, promote worthy female minority students of the Nation. The scheme helps the girl scholars with financial support so that they can continue their studies smoothly. This scholarship scheme is funded by the Government of India and implemented by the Maulana Azad Education Foundation. More than 5,89,800 minority girls have been benefited from scholarships.

This scheme was launched on May 3, 2003, by the former Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He announced this scholarship at Vigyan Bhawan during the National Conference of Education and Economic Development of Minorities in collaboration with the Ministry of Appellate Affairs, Government of India. MAEF is a non-profit, social, non-political organization. It is set up to promote education to minorities. - Mark sheets of the last qualifying exam attested by the principal of the school.
- School verification form attested by the principal of school or institute
- The Passport size Photograph of the applicant (latest photograph).
- Student ID proof

The candidates are selected based on their family’s annual income with more than 50% marks in the previous examination. The disbursal of this scholarship will be based on the income criteria.

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship Renewal
As the application is open for all the classes, class 9 to 12th, any application for Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship renewal will not be accepted. The student must apply fresh for each class to get the benefits of the minority scholarship. The scholarship once awarded can be renewed in subsequent years on the submission of a pass-out certificate. This means the scholars have passed the previous examination with a minimum of 50% of marks in 1st attempt.
Terms and Condition for Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship
There are some important terms and conditions that the candidate must keep in mind while registering for the Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship. Check the terms and conditions below:
- The amount of scholarship will be disbursed based on minority aggregation in each state and union territory based on the data of census 2011.
- The scholarship will not be resumed under any circumstances after the date of application and it is removed.
- If the information is incorrect, the application will be canceled and the amount will be recovered by the state authorities.
- The scholarship will be discontinued, in case of an educational gap.
- Preference will be given based on income level. However, candidates from the higher-income level group can also fill the form.
- If the student is receiving any other scholarship from the Central or State Government, they will not receive any benefit from the Begum Hazrat Mahal scholarship.
- If the Income certificate is in the regional language, the candidate must self-certify it in English or Hindi Language.
- One candidate can only fill one application form. In case of more than one form, they will be rejected.
- The scholarship amount will be transferred to the beneficiary’s account through Direct Transfer Mode.
- This scholarship is given only to continue education in India.
- The candidate cannot opt for the transfer to other institutions unless there are any special conditions and the transfer should be for the benefit of the candidate.
- If the candidate is already availing any scholarship from the central the government should not apply.
- Discontinued Scholarship cannot be revived at any condition.
