Delhi-NCR is suffering again from severe air pollution now-a-day. As the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached the ‘severe’ category, the Delhi government issued an advisory to reimpose GRAP4 (Graded Response Action Plan 4). The schools in Delhi have been shifted to hybrid mode due to rising pollution. The aim of these restrictions is to reduce the level of pollution and ensure the safety of citizens.
New rules for Delhi schools amid rising air pollution
- Hybrid mode studies: The administration has directed that hybrid mode (online and offline) should be adopted in all classes except class 10 and 12. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the health of the children. Schools will run in hybrid mode till the next order comes.
- Health Safety: Schools will have to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to protect students from pollution.
Other major restrictions
- Vehicle restrictions: Ban on the operation of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles.
- Construction activities stopped: Non-essential construction and demolition activities completely stopped.
- Reduce the use of private vehicles: Citizens have been appealed to use public transport more.
Effects and solutions of pollution
The main reason for Delhi’s toxic air is slow winds, low temperatures and increasing fog, which traps pollutants in the atmosphere. Experts suggest that wearing masks, staying indoors, and using air purifiers can be useful to deal with this situation.

The government has appealed to the people to leave the house only when necessary and follow the rules issued for pollution control.
